Our wedding is taking place on Saturday, 27th June 2026. The ceremony will begin at 12:00pm.

Where is the wedding, and is the evening reception in the same place?

Our wedding will be held in the Lake District at Town Head Estate, Newby Bridge, Cumbria, LA12 8NP. The What3Words location is decorated.shrug.satellite.

The evening reception will also take place at Town Head, from 7:30pm.

How do I get to the venue?

Public transport in the Lake District tends to unreliable, so the easiest way to get around is by car.

By Car

Town Head is located on the south-east bank of Lake Windermere near the village of Newby Bridge, just off the A592. It is a 20-minute drive from M6 junction 36, and a 3-minute drive from Newby Bridge.

If you are coming from the M6 motorway, after leaving the M6 at junction 36, take the A590, following signs to Barrow / Newby Bridge. At Newby Bridge roundabout, take the A592 exit towards Windermere / Bowness. The venue is about 1 mile up the road on the left - please note the entrance is a gateway with a very sharp left turn! There will be a large blue sign reading ‘Town Head’.

If you are driving from Bowness, follow signs towards The Lake / Newby Bridge / A592, then follow the A592 for 6 miles. The venue entrance is a gateway on the right with a blue sign reading ‘Town Head’.

By Train

The closest train stations to the venue are Grange-Over-Sands (15-minute drive), Windermere (17-minute drive), and Oxenholme Lake District (25-minute drive). Oxenholme has direct trains from London and Coventry.

By Plane

The nearest airport is Manchester Airport (MAN). There are direct trains available from Manchester Airport to Grange-Over-Sands.

By Shuttle Bus

For guests staying in Newby Bridge, we are planning to hire a shuttle bus between the village and the venue for on the day. If you are planning to stay in Newby Bridge and would like to take the shuttle bus, please let us know this in your RSVP.

Can I take an Uber or taxi to the venue?

Uber doesn’t operate in the Lake District, so if you are planning to use taxis to get around, we would recomend booking these well in advance. Some local taxi firms include:

Ace Taxi Windermere - 015394 45445

Cartmel Cars - 07888 915734

Economical Taxis - 015395 58901

Estate Cars - 07974 111543

Theo’s Taxis - 07747 055674

Tony’s Taxi - 07884 463092

Is there parking at the venue?

Yes, the venue has a large car park with lots of space.

What is the dress code?

The suggested dress code is ‘Garden Party’ - think along the lines of lounge suits, summer dresses, florals, etc. Hats and fascinators are optional, definitely not required!

As the venue has lots of uneven ground, we would recommend avoiding high heels or stilettos. The weather can also get pretty chilly at night, so it might be a good idea to bring an extra layer in case it gets cold in the evening.

What time should I arrive for the ceremony?

To ensure that everything can start on time, we kindly ask that guests joining us for the ceremony arrive before 11:45am.

Can I take photos during the ceremony?

There will be a professional photographer taking photos during the ceremony, so we kindly ask that guests do not take photos until after the ceremony has finished.

Will the ceremony be held outdoors?

Weather permitting, yes! Lake District weather can be very changeable, so if it is raining on the day, the ceremony will be moved indoors.

What time should I arrive for the evening reception?

Guests joining us for the evening reception are welcome to arrive from 19:30pm.

What is a ceilidh?

A ceilidh is a traditional Irish or Scottish barn dance. No experience is required and anyone can join in! The ceilidh band joining us in the evening will have a caller who will shout out the moves, so there’s no need to know any of the dances in advance.
