We are getting married at Town Head Estate, on the south-east bank of Lake Windermere in Cumbria.

The venue is a 3-minute drive from the village of Newby Bridge, and around a 20-minute drive from M6 Junction 36.

The closest train stations are Grange-Over-Sands, Windermere, and Oxenholme Lake District, with the latter having direct trains from London and Coventry.

The closest airport is Manchester Airport (MAN), which has direct trains to Grange-Over-Sands.

Directions by Car

If you are coming from the M6 motorway,after leaving the M6 at junction 36, take the A590, following signs to Barrow / Newby Bridge.

At Newby Bridge roundabout, take the A592 exit towards Windermere / Bowness. The venue is about 1 mile up the road on the left.

The entrance is a gateway with a very sharp left turn! There will be a large blue sign reading ‘Town Head’.

Newby Bridge is the closest village to the venue, and the towns of Bowness-on-Windermere and Windermere are also nearby. Cartmel, Grange-Over-Sands, and Ulverston would also be good options within a 20-minute drive.

Windermere Lake Cruises

A lovely way to see some Lake District scenery from the water. Cruises leave from Lakeside, Bowness, and Ambleside. You can also hire row boats or self-drive electric motor boats.

Grizedale Forest

Forest near Hawkshead with sculpture walking trails, cycle trails, Go Ape zip wire course, and children’s adventure playground.

Lakes Aquarium

Aquarium located close to Newby Bridge in Lakeside. Open daily from 10am. Don’t miss the otters!

Grasmere

Picturesque village famous for gingerbread and being the home of poet William Wordsworth. Alongside the Wordsworth Museum and historic house Dove Cottage, Grasmere has plenty of tea rooms, shops, and pubs to explore.

The World of Beatrix Potter Attraction

Great activity for children where you can walk through the pages of Beatrix Potter’s books and see characters like Peter Rabbit up close. The attraction is in Bowness-on-Windermere and opens daily from 10am.
